Our trip to a village 6 miles outside of Arusha

This is a family Steena worked with this last year in her Community Outreach Program. They served us a nice lunch. It did not agree with Lauren, however; she vomited twice the next day. After some pepto bismal she was fine. Today she has a cold.

Arusha, Tanzania

We arrived in Narobi, Kenya on Friday, Dec. 9th. We slept at the airport and then took a 5 hour bus ride to Arusha, Tanzania.

Steena met us at the Ipala Hotel in the car she had just purchased the day before.

Space Available Trip starts at 6:50am on Dec. 6, 2011

Fog was as thick as pea soup. The first two United flights out of Eugene, OR were cancelled, so our flight to Seattle, WA was overbooked. No room on the first two Seattle flights on Horizon. Looking at the options, Lauren Melevin, my 25 year old daughter, and I decided we would need to drive to Portland, OR if we had a chance to get to Newark, NJ today. We are in the Seattle airport in this picture waiting to board our 3:10pm flight.

We are due to arrive in Newark at 11:17pm. We will take a taxi to Lauren's friend's Mom's house near JFK airport. We leave tomorrow night for Narobi, Kenya.
